Attorney General Jeff Sessions responded on Sunday to critics for minimizing statements by a Hawaii judge, saying “no one has a sense of humor anymore.”
Sessions earlier had dismissed a judge’s measure of blocking immigration restrictions that the Donald Trump administration attempted to impose, claiming it was just someone’s “opinion on an island in the Pacific.”
Sessions then told radio broadcaster Mark Levin: “It really amazes me that a judge sitting on an island in the Pacific can issue an order that would prevent the President of the United States from exercising his constitutional authority.”
Now Sessions, on ABC’s “This Week” television program, when asked why he did not mention Hawaii by name, laughed and declared, “No one has a sense of humor anymore.”
The Trump government has warned it will appeal the decision.
